Associate Editor

Dan Schrider is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His lab develops and applies computational tools for evolutionary inference, often using deep learning. His specific research areas include but are not limited to the population genetics of adaptation, structural variation, phylogenetic inference and introgression, and evolutionary modeling via population genetic simulations. Prior to starting his lab, Dan conducted his postdoctoral studies with Andrew Kern at Rutgers University, where we worked on detecting the footprints of natural selection in the genome via machine learning. Before that, he obtained his PhD from Indiana University, where he studied genomic copy number variation with Dr. Matthew Hahn.
