Associate Editor, Genetics of Complex Traits Section, GENETICS
Francisco A. Cubillos is Professor of Genetics at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile and Principal Investigator at the Millennium Institute for Integrative Biology (iBio). His research combines evolutionary genetics, microbial ecology, and genomics to understand how natural genetic variation drives adaptation in wild yeasts. His group has reconstructed the evolutionary history of the wild ancestor of lager yeast, discovered new Saccharomyces species, and developed biodiversity-inspired microbial platforms for sustainable fermentation and biotechnology. He is passionate about connecting fundamental evolutionary biology with real-world applications through international collaborations and technology transfer.
