Melissa Pespeni
Associate Editor in New Perspectives and Reviews section

Melissa Pespeni is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Vermont and recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award. She is an evolutionary biologist working at the intersection of population genomics, ecology, and organismal biology to understand the genetic bases of complex traits and how organisms adapt to current and future environmental variation. Particularly, work from her group is leading to discoveries on the roles of standing genetic, epigenetic, and microbiome variation in shaping phenotypes in ecologically foundational marine organisms. Pespeni received her B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Critical Gender Studies from the University of California, San Diego and her Ph.D. in Biology from Stanford University.
